46. Bay Area Ridge Trail Benicia to Valejo Waterfront

 

Bay Area Ridge Trail - Benicia to Valejo Waterfront - 10.7 mi / 720 ft Spencer said that "After having done some trail maintenance on the Ridge Trail Service Day in this area recently, this looked good to return for an actual Bay Area Ridge Trail hike."

We met Nov. 20, 2021 at 9:30 AM at the parking lot at the west end of Military Road West, in Benicia, at the San Francisco Bay Trail trailhead. We began our hike at 9:45 sharp. This hike was out-and-back route. It was mostly flat, with a few quiet street sections to walk along, as the dirt trail breaks up where the coastline isn’t passable. There was a short climb just before the Carquinez bridge overlook. We had lunch there, approximately the midpoint.
