CALERA CREEK TRAIL is part of Bay Area Ridge Trail project. It extends all the way from Monument Peak to Ed R. Levin County Park. It's mostly downhill and you'll enjoy a pleasant descent with spectacular views of the bay. The trail is in fair condition. It will be nicer when you get close to Ed R. Levin County Park. Most of the trail is exposed to the sun without much shade. Calera Creek (Pacifica, California) is a stream in the Rockaway Beach and Vallemar neighborhoods of Pacifica, California. The creek is named for the limestone deposits and historical quarry located nearby. With headwaters in the Sweeney Ridge national park, this creek presently enjoys wetlands restoration from the Calera Creek Water Recycling Plant, and contains habitat for the California Red-legged Frog and San Francisco Garter Snake.

Liberty Garden
Quarry Bike Trail - Local resident Mike Mooney maintains this flowery garden along the paved Quarry Bike Trail since the terrorist attacks on Sept 11, 2001. If you’re visiting Pacifica on a weekday, you might even snag one of the dozen parking spots that provide easy access to a colorful Liberty Garden with benches and flowers that was created in the aftermath of 9/11. It’s located near the Calera Creek Water Recycling Plant in the Vallemar neighborhood off Highway 1 at Reina Del Mar Avenue, on the Pacific Ocean side. Be sure to follow the path toward the ocean and take in the garden, which was established as a tribute to 9/11 victims. Through the years, it has grown to include an estimated 50 colorful small garden plots, full of whimsical touches such as plastic flamingos, tiny toy dinosaurs, bird feeders and windchimes, along with signs with names of relatives and friends who died, but not necessarily in the 9/11 tragedy. “COVID-19 is driving everyone crazy, so they turn to gardening. All they are doing is beautifying a weed patch. Why is beautifying so wrong? We have a sign that says ‘Scenic Pacifica’ and they are doing exactly that,”

Humble Sea is located in a shopping center at 5560 Pacific Coast Highway, close by to another famous Pacifica site, the Taco Bell Cantina, known for its beautiful location on the beach.
