1. 1980년 5월 18일 새벽 사건 당시에 학생회관 현장에 계셨던 이유는 무엇입니까?

제가 1980년 5월 18일 새벽 사건 당시에 학생회관 현장에 있었던 이유는 학생서클룸이 몰려있던 학생회관 3층의 등사실에서 미국잡지에 실린 전두환 신군부의 집권 정보를 번역하여 만든 유인물을 등사하고 있었습니다. 그래서 그 시간에 학생회관 3층에 있었습니다.

차가운 시멘트 바닥을 울리는 어지러운 발소리들과 거칠게 문이 열리는 소리, 무언가 바닥에 내동댕이치며 깨지는 소리들이 사방을 울리던 순간 2층 농성장에서 3층으로 올라오던 이세종 선배와 내 시선이 부딪쳤습니다. 뭐지? 무슨 소리지? 우리는 불안하게 눈으로 물었습니다. 불안은 이내 공포로 뒤바뀌었습니다. 도망쳐! 누가 먼저랄 것도 없이 이세종 선배와 나는 옥상으로 도망치다 3층에서 옥상으로 향하는 계단 앞에서 계단도 발지 못한체 3명의 공수부대원들에게 잡혔습니다. 그 공수부대원 3명은 단독군장에 한명은 착검한 M16총을 들고 있었고 2명은 긴 박달나무 곤봉을 들고 M16은 이깨에 메고 있었습니다. 이세종 선배는 제 눈앞에서 곤봉을 들고 있던 공수부대원과 착검한 M16을 들고있던 2명의 공수부대원에게 한명은 곤봉으로 그리고 또 한명은 M16의 개머리판으로 “퍽” 소리가 나게 머리를 맞고는 비명소리도 없이 그 자리에서 꼭꾸라 졌습니다. 이세종 선배에게 곤봉을 내리치던 공수부대원은 M16을 메고 있었고 M16의 개머리판으로 내리치던 공수부대원은 곤봉이 없었는지 착검한 M16을 휘둘러대고 있었습니다. 

이세종 선배가 봉변을 당하는 거의 같은 순간에, 다른 한명의 공수부대원은 M16을 멘체 곤봉과 무자비한 군홧발로 저를 때리고 차고 하여, 전 다리 인대가 파열되고 피투성이가 된 채 포승줄에 묶여 밀패된 군용무기차에 실려있었습니다. 저도 이세종 선배처럼 죽을 수 있다는 공포감에 머리는 백지장이 되고 말았습니다.

3. 당시에 반란군과 경찰 등은 이세종 열사의 사망이 추락사라고 주장했지만, 나중에 이장 당시에 유해에서 두개골 함몰이 발견되었습니다. 이세종 열사가 옥상으로 향하는 계단에서 쓰러졌을 당시의 상황을 말씀해 주십시오. 이세종 열사가 쓰러졌을 때 이미 사망하였거나 사망에 이를 정도의 치명상을 입었을 가능성이 있습니까?

제가 이세종 선배가 즉사했다고 판단한건 제가 포승줄에 묶여 잡혀갈 때 계단아래로 끌려 내려가면서 보니, 이세종 선배는 건딜지도 않고, 이세종 선배를 죽인 공수부대원들이 상관에게 보고하는 것 같았고 어수선하게 베레모를 쓴 장교와 하사관 몇 명이 분주하게 3층에서 옥상으로 오르는 계단 쪽으로 몰려가고 있었습니다. 차후에 이세종 선배를 죽인 공수부대원들의 얼굴을 기억해 보려고 애썼지만 도무지 기억이 나지 않았습니다.
