RIP - Guy Ray McBride

[RIP] Very sad news today. Guy McBride has been my friend for many many years. I’m still a bit shocked. He was always a very good man, and jack of all trades, even though he was struggling to come into his duty. He’ll be missed.

   HYRUM — Today, March 30, 2014, I lost the love of my life; Guy Ray McBride. Born on March 21, 1954, to Shirley F. and May P. McBride. Guy was the fourth child, having two sisters; Shirley Bodrero (Arden, deceased), Annette Godfrey (Mark, deceased), and one brother; Blaine McBride (Hilda).

   Guy married Kate Speth McBride on June 2, 1975; they were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Logan Temple.

   Together they raised six amazing children: Bishop Ryan & Mary McBride (Smithfield), Veronica & Mike Tyler (Layton), Nicole & Shaun Anderson (Grace, Idaho), Cassie & Josh Veater (Santaquin), Patrick & Shayla McBride (Vernal ), Jordan McBride & Tia Ceresola (Fiancé).

   His children were so important to him and he was so proud of each of them for all their accomplishments.

   Being a grandpa was probably the best thing that ever happened to him. He was the baby rocker, holder and protector. He so loved his grandkids and watching them grow. He had 12 grandchildren: Maggie & Libby McBride; Grace, Max & Bennett Tyler; Bracken, Nayvie, Tytan Ray, Kenadi, Emery & Nixon Anderson; and Alyvia Veater (to be born in May). Guy enjoyed spending time vacationing and relaxing with me more than anything else; our favorite places were Yellowstone and Maui. Blacksmith Fork rides won’t ever be the same without him.

   Right before Guy’s high school graduation he enlisted in the Air Force and served from 1972 to 1978, when he was honorably discharged.

   Guy worked in several places, but finally found his niche working at Hyrum City Corp., working his way up to Electrical Superintendent. Guy was also the rep for UAMPS and loved that association. Guy was also a volunteer fireman and enjoyed the camaraderie and working with the Fire Department for the past 29 years.

   Guy loved serving in the church in many different callings; his favorites have always been working with the Scouts, teaching in the High Priest Group, and he loved teaching in the Sunday School with his wife. He will always be remembered by many as a faithful and caring Home Teacher.

   Guy was unfailingly reliable and depended on by many; he was a steadfast example of faith and loyalty to those he loved, and by those who will always love him.

   In lieu of flowers, the “Guy Ray McBride Memorial” fund has been set up at America First Credit Union for a memorial bench in his honor.

   Funeral services will be at noon Friday in the Hyrum 9th Ward chapel, 100 S. 455 East.

   The viewing will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Allen-Hall Mortuary on 34 E. Center St. in Logan and a viewing 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at the church.
